Fullerene C60 has a special spherical configuration, and is the best round of all the molecules. Because of the structure, all molecules of C60 have special stability, while a single C60 molecule is extremely hard at the molecular level, which makes C60 possibly as core material of lubricant; C60 is so hopefully to translate into a new abrasive material with high hardness as a result of C60 molecules’ special shape and strong ability to resist external pressures.

Fullerene-C60 is a non-toxic antioxidant 100–1000 times more active than vitamin E. 

Action of fullerene C60:

1. As a catalyst: Catalysts have a wide range of applications, such as oil refining and chemical processes. Fullerenes can be used as the basis for a new class of catalyst materials.

2. Anticancer drugs: In addition to being used as catalyst carriers, making high energy batteries and inhibiting viruses, fullerenes' ability to selectively absorb certain kinds of gases can be used in industry as a gas impurity remover, as organic solvents and as imaging agents in medicine. This is promising.

3. Folding superconducting materials: The discovery of the C60-doped superconductor is another major achievement in the field of superconductivity. This superconductor has a relatively high critical temperature, which is not only much higher than all organic molecular superconductors, but also significantly higher than previously discovered metal and alloy superconductors.

4. Fullerene can affinity free radicals, has strong antioxidant capacity, anti-photoaging, can play a role in activating skin cells, prevent skin decay. Nearly 30,000 papers have been published on fullerenes' free-radical scavenging effects, and nearly 3,000 patents have been granted. For this reason, fullerene has been used as a cosmetic material since the 21st century. It has excellent value of anti-wrinkle, whitening and aging prevention, and has become a cutting-edge beauty ingredient attracting much attention. Many high-end skin care brands contain fullerenes.

5. Multi-body research: Fullerene derivatives and porphyrins, ferrocene and other electron-rich groups covalent or non-covalent form multi-bodies, for the study of intramolecular energy, charge transfer, photoenergy and charge transfer.
