Introduction:

Stevia is a kind of natural healthy sweetener and medical auxiliary agent extracted from stevia leaves, a plant of asteraceae herb.

It is pure white, with good taste, no peculiar smell, stable in property, not easy to become mouldy, and also easily soluble in water and alcohol. It is a kind of sweetener ever discovered with the most similar taste to sucrose, and approved for use worldwide. Stevia is high in sweetness, low in calorie, its sweetness is about 200 times to sucrose, but calories is only 1/300 times. It is widely used in food, beverage, medicine, cosmetic industry, wine, etc. at the cost of 30% of sucrose. Therefore, stevia is an ideal alternative of sucrose, honored as "the Third Source of Sweetener" internationally. They also contain almost no calories and are less harmful to teeth.

Stevia is available in various forms including whole leaves, dried leaves, powdered extracts, and liquid extracts, though not all forms of stevia are considered safe by the FDA.The powdered and liquid extracts are the most commonly used forms in food and beverage applications due to their convenience and concentrated sweetness.

Taste & Quality Brand Differences

Stevia products are all over the board, so don't be surprised if what we suggesthere doesn't work with the product you have.

Not only do all of our taste buds and personal preferences vary, but so do theactual products themselves.

Have you ever tried stevia and wondered, "why does stevia taste weird?" If so, you're not alone.

Does stevia taste like sugar? Not exactly. While both sugar and stevia provide sweetness, they have distinct taste characteristics. Stevia's sweetness is often described as intensely sweet, and is even more potent than sugar.

Stevia’s bitter, soapy, licorice-like aftertaste is due to the interaction between the minor steviol glycosides and taste receptors on the tongue. While the sweet taste receptors detect the intense sweetness of stevia, the minor steviol glycosides simultaneously activate our bitter taste receptors. This simultaneous stimulation of sweet and bitter receptors gives rise to the characteristic aftertaste associated with stevia.

Do NOT believe the label as its stating NO AFTERTASTE

Time to learn what all the fuss is about.

Stevia is regarded as a healthy alternative to sugar. Yet there are drawbacks to the Stevia products recently approved as sweeteners by the European Union. One of these is a long-lasting bitter after-taste. Scientists have now identified the receptors on the human tongue mediating the bitter sensation. The human tongue has just one receptor type for detecting sweetness but about 25 different ones for bitter flavors.

The stevia plant contains several sweet-tasting compounds knownas steviol glycosides, stevia extracts, including Reb-A (Rebaudioside A), Reb-D, and Reb-M, all have a unique taste profile, the most common of which is rebaudioside A (or reb A),Stevia in its raw form is nou approved for use as a food additive by the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA). The FDA approved one of the naturally-occurring compounds found in stevia Rebaudioside A(Reb-A) in 2008.

Our PuroNutri® Stevia produced through water extraction sweeter than enzymatic hydrolysis method, rebaudioside A more than 70% and Steviol Glycosides≥95%, its sweetness more 350 times to sucrose (most provisions of RA20% and SG70% sweetness 150 times), this is currently the best stevia sweetener better tasting and less bitter rebaudiosides product on the market!

Our genes determine how our taste buds respond to different flavours, and some people have taste receptors that are more sensitive to bitter flavours than others. If you’re looking for alternative natural sweeteners without the bitter aftertaste of stevia, we suggest you try our Monk fruit sweetener. Happy sweetening!
